Grandma's Molasses Cookies

These are definitely some tastey cookies!  This recipe will make 6 dozen cookies, so if you're just looking for a treat, try cutting the recipe in half, but we wouldn't suggest substituting butter for the shortening (we didn't have any shortening)...that's why we don't have a picture to show you.  The cookies didn't look so great, but they still tasted awesome.  The moral of our story...stick to the recipe!

Ingredeints:

2 c shortening
2 c sugar
3 eggs
2 c molasses
1 1/2 c hot water
7 or 8 c Joseph's Grainery Soft White Wheat, ground into whole wheat flour
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp ginger
4 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:  Combine shortening, sugar, eggs, molasses and hot water into a mixing bowl.  Add flour, spices, soda and salt.  Continue adding flour until the batter is thick.  To use this as a rolled cookie, roll out on floured bread board and cut with a cookie cutter.  Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes on a greased cookie sheet.  This also makes a good drop cookie by not using as much flour.
